Plans for extra warning slips in cigarette packs “treats smokers like idiots”

Smokers are being bullied, campaigner argues

A smoker of over 50 years from Lincoln has said she is “fed up of being infantilised” by the government over her habit, following proposals to introduce extra warning messages inside cigarette packets.

It comes as the government tries to meet its pledge of ending smoking in England by 2030, with NHS figures suggesting that smoking kills around 76,000 people in the UK each year.
