A man has been released under investigation after a man was struck by a car and killed on the roadside near Lincoln.

Update: Tributes have been paid to the young victim, who has been named locally.

As previously reported, a 26-year-old local man was hit by a car on the B1188 between Canwick and Branston.

The incident happened at around 9pm on September 9, when the victim — part of a group who were near a layby on the road — was struck by a passing Vauxhall Astra.

A 25-year-old local man, who was not the driver of the car, was arrested, however has now been released under investigation while the enquiry continues.

Any witnesses who have not already spoken to officers at the scene are asked to call 101, quoting incident number 449 of September 9.
