A Bulgarian man confessed to watching child pornography after approaching women on the streets of Grantham.

Stefan Krastev, 26, admitted to doing “bad things” after going up to complete strangers, Lincoln Crown Court heard.

The court was told one woman heard Krastev say he needed to “apologise to all women, and all children.”

Police were called and took Krastev home because they were concerned about his welfare.

While outside his house Krastev was “visibly distressed” and confessed to viewing child pornography.

Police searched his home and seized a mobile phone. When it was analysed it was found to have viewed 198 indecent images of young children.

They included 126 in the most serious category of A, 63 at level B and nine at level C.

All the images had been deleted and had not been viewed for a year, the court was told.

A child’s doll and a notebook with reference to the “dark web” were also found by police.

Alison Summers, mitigating, told the court Krastev’s behaviour had only come to light because of his own actions.

Miss Summers’ said Krastev had already served nearly six months on remand in prison and was undecided about returning to Bulgaria.

Krastev, formerly of Grantley Street, Grantham, admitted three charges of making indecent images following his arrest on September 13.

He was sentenced to a 12 month community order and a five year sexual harm prevention order.

He must also register as a sex offender for five years and was banned from working with children.

Passing sentence Judge Michael Heath said Krastev had already served the appropriate prison sentence.

Judge Heath added: “How these matters came to light is unusual and odd.”
