He made 42 appearances for the Imps

Lincoln City defender Sean Long has left to join League Two rivals Cheltenham after making 42 appearances for the club.

As previously reported, the Irishman was previously offered a new contract when Lincoln submitted their retained list to the English Football League ahead of the 2018/19 season.

The defender initially joined Lincoln on loan from Reading in January 2017, featuring 16 times before joining the Lincoln permanently last summer.

Long made a further 26 appearances for the Imps during their first season back in the Football League, which also included the club lifting the Checkatrade Trophy at Wembley.

Lincoln City said in a statement: “We would like to express our thanks to Sean for his effort and endeavour during his time at the club and wish him all the best for the future.”
