Major £140k refurb for Skegness swimming pool

The outdoor facility can be used during the closure

A leisure facility in Skegness will undergo major work on its indoor swimming pool.

A £140,000 refurbishment at the Skegness Pool & Fitness Suite pool on Grand Parade is set to start on June 30 and will reopen on September 3

The pool tank will include a new style finger grip edge, which will help competition swimmers.

Its layout will be tiled to FINA, the international federation recognised by the International Olympic Committee, international competitor standards.

The pool tank internal finishes and deck surround will be refitted with modern commercial ceramic tiling, with drainage channels to the poolside shower areas and better shower units, privacy screening and a better look.

The indoor pool will then close, with activity moving to the outdoor facility where swimming lessons and Aquacise classes will continue.

The outdoor pool will open at weekends during June before daily opening from June 30 to September 2, when it returns to weekend opening until September 23.

The latest works brings the total investment at the site to nearly £300,000 this spring and summer in joint projects between Magna Vitae Trust for Leisure and Culture and East Lindsey District Council.

As previously reported, Magna Vitae Trust completed a £155,000 redesign of Skegness Pool & Fitness Suite on Grand Parade in the Lincolnshire town last month.

It included new TechnoGym equipment in a redesigned single-floor space, with new private shower and changing facilities.

The Dreamboys went in for a workout before their performance at Skegness’ Embassy Theatre last month.
