Imps joint top of the league after two games

County derby up next in the league

Lincoln City have made an impressive start to the League Two season, sitting joint with Exeter at the summit after the first two matches.

The Imps and the Grecians have exactly the same number of points with six and an identical goal difference.

Matt Green scored the only goal of the game as the Imps opened their league campaign with a narrow 1-0 win at Northampton.

Green scored again in the first league game of the season at Sincil Bank – a thumping 4-1 win over Swindon – with new signings John Akinde and Harry Toffolo, and Michael Bostwick also on the scoresheet.

Summer signings Scott Wharton, Shay McCartan, Bruno Andrade, Michael O’Connor and Jason Shackell have also featured this season, with Grant Smith, Joan Luque and Adam Crookes awaiting their chance.

Lincoln have two matches this week, starting with a trip to Port Vale in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday before a derby clash away against county rivals Grimsby on Saturday.
