Criminals jailed in May

A drugs hotline gang, child sex offenders, a Grimsby murderer and a dangerous driver were among those thrown in jail across the county in May.

Here’s a summary of notable court reports this month:


Joshua Probert

Grimsby man Joshua Probert, 22, pleaded guilty to 66 offences including blackmail and causing a child to engage in sexual activity. Photo: Merseyside Police

Joshua Probert, 22, of Portland Avenue in Grimsby was jailed for 12 years for systematically blackmailing young women and at least one child into sending sexual pictures and videos online.

Srdjan Ignjatovic, Eden Clark & Mohammed Bashir

The drugs gang operated the ‘Easy Cash Line’ in Lincoln.

Srdjan Ignjatovic, 25, of Horton Street in Lincoln was jailed for two years and eight months for his part in running a ‘drugs hotline’ in the city.

Eden Clark, 24, of London was jailed for two years and Mohammed Bashir, 27, of St Marks Road, Kensington was jailed four years.

Darren Barnes, 47, from Tydd Gote in Cambridgeshire, was jailed for 12 years for sexually abusing a young girl on frequent occasions.

Daniel Dixon

Daniel Dixon has been jailed for 12 months.

Daniel Dixon, 31, of Penny Piece Place in Sheffield, was jailed for 12 months, and disqualified from driving for three and a half years, after losing control of his car and knocking down a grandfather.

Amy Coleman has been jailed for nine years

Amy Coleman, 30, of Mel Marshall Way, Wrangle was jailed for nine years after a glassing attack in a bar caused her victim to lose an eye.

Florin Hapluic and Iasmin Florian

Iasmin Florian and Florin Hapliuc have been jailed for the death of Mihai Cernat. Photo: Humberside Police

Florin Hapluic, 25, of Rutland Street in Grimsby was given a life sentence for murder with a minimum of 12 years after the death of Mihai Cernat in December 2017.

Iasmin Florian, 30, of Oxford Street in Grimsby was jailed for 13 years for manslaughter and will have to serve a minimum of seven years.

Jack Walker was jailed at Lincoln Crown Court

Jack Walker, 25, of Alexandra Road in Skegness, was jailed for six years and eight months after admitting a charge of aggravated burglary at a house in Ingoldmells.

Nigel Leigh has been jailed at Lincoln Crown Court.

Nigel Leigh, 38, of Raglan House, Ruston Way in Lincoln, was jailed for two and a half years after following a university student out of a supermarket and sexually assaulting her.

Jeremy Bedford-Turner, 48, of Lincoln was jailed for a year after a jury found him guilty of stirring up racial hatred at a ‘sinister’ speech in London.
